Ceremonial presentation of new hydrogen refueling station in Eichenzell, Germany

Eichenzell, July 2025 — BEN-tec, H2 POWERCELL and Resato Hydrogen Technology are pleased to announce the ceremonial presentation of the new hydrogen refueling station in Eichenzell, owned and operated by RHV during their 30th anniversary on 27 June. The new station is a major step forward in making clean, locally produced hydrogen available for heavy-duty and passenger vehicles as well as combined heat and power use, helping to move sustainable transport and the energy transition from vision to reality.
Paul Wallmann says: "At RHV, we’re proud to celebrate our 30th anniversary by unveiling this state-of-the-art hydrogen refueling station in Eichenzell. This project reflects our commitment to driving the energy transition forward- the future of clean power is already here.”
At the heart of this new facility is a modular PEM electrolyzer that stores the surplus of wind and solar energy as hydrogen , entirely emission-free. The resulting green hydrogen can be fed directly into the refueling station, which is specifically engineered for heavy-duty commercial vehicles or can be used through the integrated fuel cell for combined heat and power, grid stabilization, peak-shaving and emergency power, dependent on the best economic usage.
Based on the available renewable energy from wind and solar BEN-Tec developed the decentral micro grid, the hydrogen production and storage, balancing the economic usage with the related consumers for hydrogen refueling, electric and thermal power demand.
The H2PowerCube supplied from H2 POWERCELL as heart of the microgrid combines in one plug and play container the elctrolyzer for green hydrogen production, a fuel cell for combined heat and power usage as well as a battery system for emergency power supply. The final H2PowerCube will have a total of 1.200 kW electrolyzer, 300 kW fuel cell and 250 kWh of battery.
Sebastian Niehoff, Managing Partner of BEN-Tec and H2 POWERCELL, stated: “The energy transition and emission free transportation needs solutions now and can’t wait for the electric and gas grids. The micro grid and hydrogen refueling station of RHV demonstrates already today, that economic solutions are available with our concept development services and our game-changing products that combine hydrogen and battery technologies.”
Equipped with 350 and 700 bar fast-fill technology and powered by Resato’s high-pressure compression systems, the modular station is designed for scalability, ready to expand in line with future market demand. The facility is fully compliant with the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), offering fast parallel refueling for both heavy-duty and passenger vehicles.
Rob Castien, CEO of Resato Hydrogen Technology, says:"Our systems are engineered to deliver safe, fast, and scalable hydrogen refueling, and this station in Eichenzell exemplifies how innovation and sustainability go hand in hand to drive the energy transition forward, especially for the heavy-duty transport sector."
Strategically positioned in Eichenzell, central Germany, the station acts as a vital hub for both local and long-distance hydrogen-powered transport. It plays a key role in strengthening Europe's hydrogen infrastructure and accelerating the shift toward zero-emission mobility.
